Cockroaches
Cockroaches, or roaches, form part of an ancient group that dates back at least as far as 300 million years ago. The modern cockroach started to appear in the early Cretaceous Period, which began around 145 million years ago. It’s likely that these insects are the most primitive winged insects on Earth today.
Spiders
Spiders are predators to many pests and may be considered pests themselves, when prevalent in your home, especially for those who have arachnophobia. The misunderstood fear of spiders and their creepy appearance is among a few of the top reasons why spiders are on the most hated list, and reason for some to have them eliminated when they find their way indoors.
Rodents
It’s that time of year when the temperatures drop outside and all the warmth is found within the walls of your home. You’re not the only one looking for shelters with warmer temperatures. More than twenty million rodents will start their search for warmth, water, food, and shelter during these freezing months (NPMA (National Pest Management Association)).
Ants
Ants are industrious insects, and finding a way into your home is easy. When there are cracks and crevices in the flooring, walls, and baseboards, around pipes under the sink, around windows, and heating and air conditioning ducts, ants will find these entry points and use them to access your home. Not only will ants have access to water, but they will also have access to food sources and areas where they can build their nests.
Fleas
Fleas are flightless insects that survive by consuming the blood of mammals and birds. There are over 2,000 species of fleas in the world and more than 300 in the U.S. alone. They are the most prevalent parasite that you’ll find on dogs and cats. The most common flea is Ctenocephalides felis, otherwise known as the cat flea. Other types of fleas are human fleas, dog fleas, and rat fees.
