Scorpion Seal For Scorpion Prevention

Summary:

Never feel afraid to ask Bulwark a question. Here, Thomas is having a discussion on sealing the cracks of the home as an additional safety to preventing scorpions.

Speaker 1 0:00 – 0:04

So what’s the scorpion seal entail? When you seal a house off.

Speaker 2 0:05 – 1:22

They basically go round and they try to find every along the J-rail at the bottom the house the breeze, they try to find all these cracks and that scorpions can get into. One of the easiest things when you look at your house when you close the door, you can see sunlight coming through the door, then you know your your doors not actually sealed, a lot of people see the light actually under the threshold. So you can get an expanding foam yourself if you want to, you can do it or caulking yourself that’s part of the seal as well.

When we do the seal will check the doors make sure things seal tight on the doors and anything and everything where there’s sixteenths of an inch that has an inlet to the house from the wall is what we try to hit. Like your your outlets and your vents are a big thing.

Scorpions feel that condensation on the vents, because they’re desert they need the moisture to survive, though, they’re drawn to the condensation on the vents near AC. So walk along those vents up in the attic and along to the walls in the house and that’s when you get to coming out and at night trying to crawl across top of the ceiling and falling into beds.

So yeah, you don’t want it to fall on your bed. You know, you don’t want to be else in your bed beside you in your wife anyway. So that’s that’s another thing too, about your beds is that the skirts are under the bed and like skirts that women love to put on the bed.

Speaker 1 1:22 – 1:23

Thing climb up those.

Speaker 2 1:23 – 1:51

Yes, I would advise not having skirts pretty as they are if you have scorpions around, you don’t want skirts. Mason jars, you put those around the base your bed, if you’re on our service, we actually have something else looks a little nicer for you that we can put to block the scorpions from climbing up.

Glue boards also help to get glue boards even put it down because they like to go on the corners of the walls because they’re practically blind. So they feel around the corners and they they use their other senses to make themselves feel comfortable.

Speaker 1 1:51 – 1:55

So little cracks and stuff in the house, do you actually seal it off or do you just treat it with like an insecticide?

Speaker 2 1:56 – 2:15

No we actually seal it off, we have an expanding foam, we’ll put them behind those. So we’ll go through all the outlets and everything else and seal off those areas. The outlets is the main area they they run along because the wires go throughout the entire house. So they get on those wires and they can travel along those and that’s where all your the bugs are, are hanging out anyway. So it’s kind of highway system.

Speaker 1 2:15 – 2:19

So anything that seals is like a good preventive maintenance, right?

Speaker 2 2:20 – 3:01

Yeah, seals not going to cure your problem, it’s just an additional barrier to letting them get in the house.

The maintenance on the house is actually the most important. So doing a monthly service or if you’re doing it yourself, doing it on a regular consistent basis is the best way to keep scorpions out of your house and your foundation, your house will change.

So we get it done now and it may still make break, you know, five or six years with weather and everything else. So again, it’s still a good barrier to have. I don’t discourage, especially if you’re getting a reaction.

Yeah, but the thing that’s most effective keeping them out and keeping the neighborhood problem away is the the treatments are on the outside of the house on a regular basis with the right products.
