What do fire ants do? Fire ants actually do a couple of things, hunt for food, reproduce and cause a lot of problems. In the state of Texas fire ants are causing millions of dollars in damage on their electrical grid.
What happens is the fire ants are attracted to the electricity. You know those big power boxes throughout our neighborhoods. They’ll build their mounds around the box, eventually shorting out the electricity. The power company has to come back out, repair the damage and wait for it to happen all over again.
